Monrovia, Liberia – On September 23, 2024, the Managing Director of the National Port Authority (NPA), Hon. Sekou A. M. Dukuly, welcomed Mr. Nasser Tlassellal, Managing Director of Tanger Med Engineering in Morocco, along with his delegation, to the NPA.
Tanger Med Engineering is a leading engineering and port management firm based in Tanger, Morocco. The firm plays a crucial role in supporting the Moroccan government’s strategic priorities aimed at boosting economic and social development in the northern region of Morocco.
During the welcome, Hon. Sekou A. M. Dukuly expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “This visit underscores our mutual commitment to overcoming challenges and driving growth within Liberia’s port sector. We are excited about the future of our collaboration with Tanger Med Engineering and the potential it holds for the continued development of our port infrastructure.”
In response, Mr. Tlassellal expressed gratitude for the warm welcome extended to him and his delegation. He praised the progress made by the NPA in transforming and organizing its operations, highlighting a strong endorsement of the NPA’s efforts to modernize and optimize its services.
The primary purpose of Director Tlassellal’s visit was to strengthen mutual cooperation and enhance development initiatives between the NPA and Tanger Med Engineering.
It is worth noting that a few months prior, Hon. Sekou A. M. Dukuly led a five-member delegation to Tanger Med Port in Morocco. This visit aimed to explore innovative solutions and potential partnerships designed to enhance the productivity of Liberia’s ports. During that trip, Hon. Dukuly engaged with senior officials from Tanger Med Engineering, seeking support in port development and management, which laid the groundwork for significant advancements in port operations.
Looking ahead, a technical team from Tanger Med Engineering is expected to arrive in Liberia next month to conduct a feasibility and technical assessment of the nation’s ports for potential infrastructure development.
The National Port Authority is confident that this partnership will yield tangible results, fostering sustainable growth and improving port services throughout Liberia.
