The calling of a Cruise Vessel signifies Free Port’s Capacity and operational efficiency for the breathing and sailing of additional Vessels for tourist visits to Liberia.

A Kakata-based non-governmental organization ( Liberian Youth Network – LIYONET ) dubbed St. Mark Preparatory College, on Friday, May 17, 2024, paid a sightseeing visit at the Freeport of Monrovia.

The Students’ visit fits within the Social Corporate Responsibility of the National Port Authority and the School’s mission which seeks to promote Children and Youth participation through sustainable development to become Responsible Citizens and good leaders.

The visiting students were welcomed upon arrival at the Port’s Facility by Deputy Managing Director for Administration James Richard Bernard on behalf of Managing Director Sekou A. M. Dukuly.

Mighty Foundation Christian School Students Visit the port facility in a bid to fulfill an industrial field trip.

The Student’s visit fits within the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the National Port Authority, which seeks to give back to the public through Community engagements.

The Students, accompanied by a few Staff of the Mighty Foundation School, were received by Mr. SEKOU B. KORLEH in proxy of Managing Director, Hon. Sekou A.M. Dukuly, and onward to the training hall to drill them through the Scope of operations of the Port.

They were taught through rigorous PowerPoint presentations by the Executive, Director for Government and International Affairs, Sekou Korleh.

After a prolonged period of darkness, the National Port Authority, led by Hon. Sekou A.M. Dukuly, has successfully reinstated the lighting infrastructure at the Freeport of Monrovia, marking a significant milestone for the port. The restoration of lights comes after years of operating in suboptimal conditions due to the absence of adequate lighting, which has posed various challenges, including security and safety concerns.

This achievement is a direct result of the steadfast commitment to a comprehensive reform policy implemented by the current maintenance department.

The National Port Authority (NPA) and its Board of Directors dissenting the Senate’s decision to grant outstation Ports autonomy status.

Recently, the Senate’s Committee on Public Corporation and Public Works, following an assessment, recommended that various ports, including the Ports of Buchanan, Harper, and Greenville, be given autonomy.

The NPA Board sees the move by the Liberian Senate as premature and has the propensity to undermine the act of creating the National Port Authority of Liberia.

A significant meeting has taken place between President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Managing Director of the National Port Authority, Hon. Sekou A. M. Dukuly, and APM Terminals Vice President and Regional Managing Director for Africa and Europe, Igor van den Essen. The focus of the discussions was to strengthen long-term partnerships and explore investments in port infrastructure to support the Liberian economy.

During the meeting, Mr. van den Essen highlighted APM Terminals’ commitment to fostering ‘local talents’ through workforce development. He underlines the importance of training, upskilling, and empowering the local workforce.

NPA Management Commences Capacity Building Training for Port Security Personnel.

The National Port Authority (NPA) recently conducted a two-day capacity-building training session for over 36 personnel at the Freeport of Monrovia. This initiative aimed to enhance the duties and responsibilities of security officers within the port facility.

In his remarks, the Deputy Managing Director for Administration, Hon. James R. Benard, expressed his appreciation to the ISPS leadership for organizing the training program for port security personnel. He assured that the management’s support would continue and emphasized a commitment to working with other institutions for capacity building for NPA employees.

The Management of the National Port Authority of Liberia wishes to distance itself from an online recruitment process that is circulating on social media and other public places concerning the recruitment of employees.

In the strongest terms possible, the public should be warned of scammers using the name and image of the NPA for personal use.

We are pleased to state that there is no recruitment process at the Port. The general public is urged to remain calm as the management of the Port, through its Managing Director Hon. Sekou A. M. Dukuly, is working tirelessly to ensure that the port sector is being upgraded positively.

Therefore, the public will be notified through our public relations department of any form of recruitment that will be done in the future.

The Liberia Seaport Police (LSP) at the National Port Authority (NPA) has successfully apprehended nine individuals involved in an alleged petroleum burglary to the tune of five hundred gallons and eighty-two empty containers.

The operation, led by the LSP Director Col. Othello Jean Pierre during a routine patrol, took place in the early hours of Monday, September 16, at about 12:45 AM at the BMC-AMOCO gate.

In a Press Release issued today said those arrested were two security personnel, an LSP officer, and a Fire Service officer assigned to the National Port Authority (NPA), while the seven suspects were civilians. The two officers have been suspended with immediate effect pending investigation.

Col. Othello Jean Pierre, Director of the Liberian Seaport Police, confirmed that while on patrol along with other LSP officers intercepted the burglary at the SRIMEX storage, located in the National Port Authority. According to Col. Pierre, nine people involved in this illegal operation were apprehended and detained at the Charge of Quarters at the National Port Authority.

The Release said preliminary investigations are currently being carried out by the Corporate Security Bureau at the NPA. Once completed, the suspects will be turned over to the Liberia National Police for further investigation.

The National Port Authority said it remains committed to upholding the integrity of the NPA and will continue to collaborate with other law enforcement agencies to ensure that all activities within the port are secured and conducted lawfully.
